Agent Payments Protocol (AP2)
The Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), announced by Google in September 2025, is an open protocol for authorizing payments made by agents on a user's behalf. At its core are signed mandates and proofs of intent that determine whether an agent was authorized to make a purchase. Its development is slated to move to the FIDO Alliance in 2026.
